Does a CAS Number Prove My Peptides Are Legit?

A CAS number identifies a chemical substance; it does not prove that a seller’s peptide vial contains that substance. Use it to check the stated identity, then review the separate analytical report and its connection to the offered lot.

If a number looks official but the product information disagrees, record the mismatch and ask for clarification rather than treating the number as a quality certificate.

What does a CAS number on a peptide mean?

CAS describes its Registry Number as a unique identifier for a specific chemical substance, helping connect different names with the same substance record. Its FAQ also explains that the digits themselves have no inherent chemical meaning. They are an identifier, not an encoded purity result. CAS: Registry Numbers; CAS: identifier FAQ.

Check the associated record and the full material description. A nickname alone may omit information you need for a comparison. Keep the named form and any modification in your notes rather than shortening every record to the familiar compound name.

Is a CAS number the same as a batch number or COA?

Three identifiers with different jobs
Record Question it helps answer What it cannot establish by itself
CAS number Which substance is being named? What is inside this particular container?
Batch or lot identifier Which stock or production group does the supplier identify? Which analytical findings were obtained?
Laboratory report identifier Which submitted sample and test record are being discussed? Whether every offered vial is connected to that sample

For example, a listing can name a substance correctly while supplying no report for the current stock. That leaves the documentation question unresolved. Conversely, a typographical discrepancy needs correction but does not establish that an unperformed test failed.

What if different peptides show the same CAS number?

Check each named substance against an authoritative record and the supplier’s exact specification. CAS warns that secondary sources can associate a substance with an incorrect identifier. Copying the same number between websites does not independently confirm that match. CAS: why the authoritative record matters.

A fictional mismatch exercise

Two catalog rows name Material A and Material B but repeat one identifier. A screenshot records that discrepancy; it does not show which row is correct or what either vial contains.

The next step is to compare the identity records and request corrected product information. Keep the identity check separate from any lot-specific analytical findings.

Do not choose the number appearing most often or silently replace it with an unverified search result. Retain the source and date for the record you actually checked. If the relationship remains unclear, say “identity discrepancy unresolved” rather than assigning a favorable or unfavorable test result.

How can I check a peptide’s identity before comparing listings?

  1. Copy the full product name, form, modification and labeled quantity.
  2. Record the stated identifier exactly, preserving any discrepancy.
  3. Compare the name and identity against an authoritative record.
  4. Review the separate report for the submitted sample and tests performed.
  5. Ask how that sample connects to the offered lot.

For store examples, CJC-1295 with DAC 5 mg and Modified GRF 1-29 have separate descriptions; this guide does not assign a new identifier or verify their lots. Use the COA guide and request available records through Lab Testing.

How to attribute and preserve the context
  1. Place a visible Peptide Serum citation beside the relevant claim, table or passage; do not substitute a general homepage link.
  2. Identify what you reused, and distinguish our compilation or interpretation from an original study or supplier statement.
  3. Keep links and credit to the primary studies, trial registries, supplier listings and other original sources supporting the material.
  4. For price comparisons, preserve currency, units, vial or pack size, sample count, observation dates, exchange-rate date and exclusions.
  5. Keep provisional labels, methodological limits and evidence caveats. A price comparison does not establish equivalent product quality.
  6. Check the live source before describing prices, availability or research status as current; record your actual access date.
  7. Label quotations, adaptations and recalculations accurately. Do not imply Peptide Serum endorsed your work.
  8. Cite us only for material you actually used from this page. These guidelines do not override third-party rights or applicable legal exceptions.
